Information
David Cochran's formal training in
art began at the age of 10, when he took lessons at
the Corcoran Museum in Washington, DC.
He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in
1976 with a BFA in Painting and Printmaking.
After school, he received a grant from the National
Endowment of the Arts to be "Artist in Residence"
for York County, Virginia From 1977 - 1978.
Since that time he has made his living as a freelance
artist. He now resides in Alexandria, Virginia with
his wife, Sheryl and three boys. For the last 19 years,
his studio has been in the prestigious Torpedo Factory
Art Center in Old Town Alexandria, overlooking the Potomac
River.
This award-winning artist participates in juried and
one-man shows and is in many permanent collections,
including Philip Morris, the Chrysler Museum, the Federal
Reserve Bank (Richmond, VA.) and Ethyl Corp.
